Intervention Programs

Nairne School runs the following Intervention Programs designed to improve children’s academic performance and confidence, or to help those with specific learning difficulties.

Quicksmart

This nationally recognised mathematics program for middle and upper primary students is designed to increase automatic recall of number facts and operations.  Students are nominated into the program by teachers or parents, and work is conducted by SSOs. Students have 3 x 30 minute sessions a week.

Multi-Lit

A highly credible and preferred reading and spelling program for students with specific learning difficulties. Middle and upper primary students are nominated into the program by teachers or parents and operate and work in the program with SSOs. Students have 3 x 30 minute sessions a week.

ReadUp & ReadOn

This reading intervention program was designed by a local principal based on their literacy experience with a focus on word automaticity.  The program uses a series of respected strategies to increase children’s reading skills and understanding. ReadUp is aimed at 6, 7 and 8 year old students, with ReadOn focusing on older students. Participants are nominated into the program by teachers or parents, working with an SSO three times a week.

Tech Shed

Tech Shed is a hands-on program that works with students creating projects and items in our tech shed. Working one-on-one and in small groups, tech shed offers practical and engaging learning developing fine and gross motor skills, inter-personal skills and providing an opportunity for differing styles of learning.

Interoception Intensives

Our site-wide Interoception program is complimented with interoception instensive sessions to aid with emotional regulation and develop plans to assist them make proactive choices to bring positive outcomes.
