Primary Learning

All South Australian schools join those across the nation to use the Australian Curriculum as the basis of our teaching and learning standards. Curriculum in South Australia outlines these requirements. At Nairne School we approach these expectations through the lens of our school philosophy of social and emotional learning and practices such as Visible Learning, our Inclusive Learning Policy and our School Vision.

Teaching and Learning Practice

The Department for Education’s South Australian Teaching for Effective Learning (TfEL) Framework is the basis of our learning environment for primary students.

The framework is designed to enhance teaching and learning techniques for both teachers and students. The 4 principles include:

  • learning for effective teaching
  • creating safe conditions for learning
  • developing children as expert learners
  • personalising and connecting learning

More in-depth information about the TfEL principles can be found on the Department for Education website.
